Configure Google Voice Callback on Android Devices with FreedomPop Voice

In this article we briefly explain how to configure Google Voice callback for use with the Android FreedomPop Freedom Phone using the FreedomPop “Messaging” app and Android devices using the “FreedomPop Free Voice” app. This assumes you have your Google account configured to use Google Voice and you have an active account with FreedomPop (free or paid) which includes voice capabilities.

Download the “Voice+ (Google Voice callback)” app by Szilárd Kovács on your Android device from the Google Play Store:

In the Voice+ app:
1) Check Outgoing call integration box.
2) Configure your Google account.
3) Configure your callback phone numbers. The callback number should be your FreedomPop phone number. After you move your numbers around to how you would like them, tap the FreedomPop phone number to activate it as your callback number and hit back.
4) Set the default call type to “Always Google Voice”.

If using a phone purchased from FreedomPop or activated using BYOD:
Launch the FreedomPop “Messaging” app.

If using the FreedomPop Free Voice app on a non FreedomPop Android device:
Launch the “FreedomPop Free Voice” app.

In the respective FreedomPop app, go to Settings -> Easy configuration -> uncheck Integrate with Android (if checked).

From this point forward, you should now use the native Android phone dialer to place calls if you intend to make outgoing call with your Google Voice number. When you place an outbound call with the native dialer, Voice+ will callback your FreedomPop phone number (which you should answer) and will then place the call using your Google Voice phone number. Simple as that.
