Install USB Drivers for Sprint Overdrive Mobile Hotspots on Windows 8

As of the writing of this article, the USB MUX drivers for Sprint’s line of Overdrive Mobile Hotspots are no longer available from Sprint or Sierra Wireless. This is a problem for those who still use these devices on Sprint and its MVNO’s like FreedomPop. Connecting the hotspot to a computer via USB is useful for device configuration and data tethering through USB to the connected computer. The installer presented here is the latest driver set and features Windows 8 support.

Applicable devices:
Overdrive™ 3G/4G Mobile Hotspot for Sprint (AirCard® W801)
Overdrive Pro™ 3G/4G Mobile Hotspot for Sprint (AirCard 802S)

Step 1
Download the USB driver installer – [Link]

Step 2
If you have a previous version of the USB drivers installed, remove them. Execute the downloaded driver installer and follow the on-screen prompts to install the latest USB drivers.

Step 3
The drivers should now be installed. Use a micro USB cable to connect the Overdrive hotspot to your computer.
